—SYMBOLISM—
Communicating meaning through the thoughtful
selection of artistic motifs, a dimension often overlooked when the
emphasis is on technique, aesthetics, or style. Through symbolic
thinking, the artist can explore the possibilities of a language not of
words, but things. The parameters of art can also be approached
symbolically, such as in color symbolism, or the symbolism of
light or dark.
